Google will soon be adding DNS-over-TLS support to it Public DNS protocol to provide added security and privacy for users.
Just like search queries can expose individuals’ sensitive information, so to can DNS expose a user’s domains that have been looked up. Adding TLS to DNS will mean that traffic to and from the resolver will now be encrypted. The security technology will be the same as used for the HTTPS protocol web connections.
Google Public DNS is the world’s largest DNS recursive resolver.
